WHAT IS DYSLEXIA?
Dyslexia is not a disease, it is defined as a learning difference in people. The World Federation of Neurology defines dyslexia as a disorder characterized by difficulty in learning to read despite having sufficient intelligence and socio-cultural opportunity in a traditional educational setting. Learning difficulties in dyslexia are divided into four in itself. These; difficulty in reading, difficulty in learning mainly mathematics, difficulty in writing, difficulty in language and speaking. However, dyslexia, which is not widely known among the public, negatively affects children's school success.
Experts note that late speech by children compared to their peers may be a sign of dyslexia, but parents do not focus on this situation because the child can speak eventually.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF DYSLEXIA?

Dyslexia is seen in 10 percent of children who start school. In general, dyslexic children show signs of delayed speech, inability to tell things in order, difficulty in counting sequentially, shuffling left and right, inability to button up, not riding a bicycle, preferring to play alone, not being able to continue games, getting bored easily, and having special interests such as animals or space. . Symptoms such as difficulty in using forks, scissors and tying laces, wearing shoes inside out, drawing shapes backwards, inability to paint without overflowing, reluctance to activities outside the field of interest, inability to learn opposite concepts, inability to learn colors, and mixing can be noticed in these children. In addition, these children are generally more successful in oral exams and unsuccessful in written exams than expected.
Symptoms such as failure in physical education, not understanding gestures and mimics, fear of making mistakes, inability to estimate distance, and confusion can be seen in dyslexic children.
Stating that these symptoms indicate dyslexia, experts emphasize that these children should get support without wasting time.
